Merged into another company's listing.
Back on Google under its own name.
Our client is a tour and private transportation company in Charlotte, North Carolina. In August 2026, during a Google support case, its Business Profile was merged into the listing of a different Charlotte limo company. From then on, opening the profile showed the other business, and every attempt to verify it stalled. We worked out what was wrong, cleaned up everything around the profile, and prepared the owner for Google's live video check. The profile was back on Google under its own name in October 2026.
A tour company in Charlotte, North Carolina
The company runs tours, winery trips, birthday outings and private transportation for groups around Charlotte. It is a service-area business: it goes to its customers, so its address stays hidden on Google. For a business like this, the Google profile is how people find it, call it and read its reviews.
In August 2026, during a support case, Google merged its profile into the listing of a different Charlotte limo and party bus company. The owner came to us in September with the profile stuck: the dashboard showed someone else's business, and verification was out of reach.
What was actually wrong
Google's messages only said the profile needed verifying. Looking at what Google could see showed three separate problems.
Merged into someone else's listing
Clicking the business name in the owner's dashboard opened the other company's listing, with its phone number and reviews. Verifying in that state risked confirming the wrong business, which is how the merge happened in the first place.
A duplicate profile
A second profile for the same business sat in the same account. To Google, two profiles for one business is a warning sign, and it kept the support case from moving.
Details that didn't agree
The business name had carried extra keywords, which Google flags as not matching the real name. The website still showed an old South Carolina address on four pages. Google's reviewers compare these things, and every mismatch gives them a reason to say no.
None of this was the owner doing anything wrong on purpose. A merge by support, plus a few loose ends, is enough to lock a real business out. Google's guidelines for representing your business explain the rules involved.
Three things worth knowing
- A merge is fixed only when clicking your own business name shows your own business. Banners and help links can change before the merge does. Don't verify until the profile is yours again.
- Remove a duplicate the right way. Remove it from your business list. Never mark it "permanently closed": that can drag the real profile down with it.
- A service-area business verifies the business, not a building. On Google's live video call you show business papers, business cards and the tools of the trade. Here that meant the chauffeur with a driver's licence, and the vehicle.
How the case was run
Before asking the owner for anything, we read what Google can see: the dashboard, the public listing, the website and the business documents. That is where the merge, the duplicate and the website address showed up.
The duplicate was removed from the business list, with nothing marked closed. The old South Carolina address came off the website and was replaced with "Serving Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas", with one email address used everywhere. Three open support cases were brought into one, so a single Google agent owned the separation and the verification. We wrote every message the owner sent to Google.
The owner held off verifying until Google's agent had looked at the case and said to go ahead. We prepared her for the live video call: what to say first, which papers to show, and what else to have ready. When the screen showed "No more ways to verify", the next step was a screen recording sent in the same case, as Google's agent had asked.
The profile was back on Google under its own name in October 2026. The owner did everything from her own Google account, using what we prepared, and never shared a password. Our fee was the standard $497, due only once the profile was live and verified. The whole case ran on email and WhatsApp.

Questions about this case
Can Google support merge my profile into another business?
It is uncommon, but it happens, usually during a support case or a verification. Two businesses with similar names in the same city are the classic setup. Afterwards, your dashboard can open the other business's listing, with their phone number and reviews.
How do I know if my profile is still merged?
Sign in at business.google.com and click your business name, not "Edit profile". If it opens another company's listing, the merge is still there, whatever the banners say.
Should I verify while my profile is merged?
No. A verification done while your profile points at another business can confirm the wrong business. Get the separation confirmed in your support case first, then verify once.
Did the owner have to give you her Google password?
No. She added us as a manager through Google's own interface, and filed everything from her own account using what we prepared. She kept full ownership the whole time.
How much did it cost?
Our standard fee of $497, due only once the profile was back and verified. Nothing was paid upfront.
My dashboard shows another business too. What happens first?
Message us. We look at what Google can see first and tell you, in writing, what we think happened and whether it can be fixed. You pay nothing until it is live.
